Profile - Elizabeth FosterElizabeth Foster is a native New Yorker and a trained geologist. She has been drawing and painting most of her life and has done a lot of quilting and sewing.
When her mother, Patricia Andrle wanted to publish some of her original designs, she and Elizabeth formed Counted Illuminations in 1991. In 1996 Elizabth published a few of her own designs and instantly gained a following. When Patricia retired, Elizabth took over the sales of the original Counted Illuminations and formed her own design company Elizabeth's Designs.
Elizabeth likes to design anything to do with nature and gardens - cottages, flowers, trees and sheep are her favourites. She stitches all the designs herself and makes lots of changes as she works. She loves to use overdyed threads for leaves and trees because she feels the same effects cannot be achieved with solid colour threads.
Elizabeth's Designs are stylish simple designs which rely heavily upon speciality threads but also often use a variety of stitches. The collection also suits a range of abilities.
