Profile - Jane Alford, Dorothea Hall, Shirley WattsJane Alford studied embroidery and design at the London College of Fashion and began her career designing for magazines. This is turn led her to spend a year in Norway where she designed for a local embroidery firm. After producing cross stitch designs for eight years, Jane then branched out into making kits with a floral theme and formed her own company, Reflexions.Dorothea Hall is a freelance writer and designer. She took a textile degree at Bradford College of Art and began her career designing wallpapers and fabrics for the major London manufacturers. She later went on to teach arts and crafts and interior design. Shirley Watts taught for many years in selective schools in England and the Caribbean. In 1987, having resigned from her post as Head of Department, Shirley began producing cross stitch designs. Taking as her inspiration her love of nature and conversation, her cross stitch wildlife kits have since become increasingly successful. |
