A lovely Art Nouveau design of a deep blue flower.

Since 1992 Matawi Tileworks of Ann Arbor, Michigan has been creating historically informed tile designs that are influenced by turn of the century Arts and Crafts artists and potteries. This flower picture is based on one of those designs.

The design has a large scale black and white chart printed 10 stitches to two centimetres with key on an A4 page. The pattern is worked in whole cross stitch, backstitch, straight stitch and french knots using seven shades of stranded cottons. The stitch count is 85 by 77 and the model was stitched on 28 count white evenweave fabric.
