Profile - Bothy Threads

Bothy Threads - 'the home of happy stitching' is a UK company now based in the Lake District with designer Kate Hoyle.

They produce kits from the artwork of many different artists mostly in cartoon style.

Designers include Margaret Sherry well known for her cartoon cats, mice and other animals. Amanda Loverseed has designed the witty Cut-Thru series ranging from Noah's Ark to a Rocket.

More traditional designs Strawberry Thief and Bird from William Morris are available in cross stitch and needlepoint. When Moira Blackburn retired Bothy Threads continued to produce her traditional samplers.

In 2017, Rose Swalwell of Derwentwater Designs also retired and Bothy Threads took over her catalogue and continues to produce those.

Fairy Tales is a series of silhouettes on shaded fabric. They have a growing collection of designs from the artwork of Hannah Dale of Wrendale Designs.

Their well produced kits often have added beads, metallic floss, ribbons and one even has a feather.
