Welcome to the May 2025 newsletter!
This month's issue is a bit shorter as we've been on holiday for a couple of weeks and we're just catching up!
Let's get started
Patterns
In celebration of their tenth anniversary,
Bella Filipina have a new design
Ocean Mermaids by Nora Corbett. There are seven in total, one for each of the seven seas!
Christmas is a long way away but
Heart in Hand are first off the blocks with a new
two new `red` designs one of a Christmas stocking and the other of a kitten with Christmas decorations.
Kits
Bothy Threads have released a new collection of the cute Gorjuss girls.
DMC Stitchbow items a clever way to store skeins of DMC - or other stranded cottons.
There are several products which complement each other - the mini travel bag goes with the mini inserts; the binder inserts go with a standard ring binder; and the floss holders are there to keep your skeins tidy as you use them!
After months of waiting we finally received a delivery of Mill Hill beads, treasures and embellishment packs. Sadly for purists, individual Magnifica bead packs weren't in there and so Magnifica are still only available inside the embellishment packs which go with specific Mirabilia designs.
European Union
If you missed it in last month's newsletter, we've decided to stop sending to EU customers. This is due to the the new GPSR regulations which appear to be designed to make life harder for overseas companies like us and protect the inefficiencies in Europe's internal suppliers. Rather like the trade tariffs that have been in the news recently - but more insidious. The result is always the same the industry in question (needlecrafts in this case) struggles and eventually dies on the vine.
Some of our long-standing EU customers have written to us and we hope they understand the situation.
We've observed that other small companies are also taking this kind of action and withdrawing from the EU marketplace.
And Finally
Our title comes from a poem by Edith Willis Linn Forbes, US Poet, 1865-1945.
"Fall down, fall down, oh shower of white
And make the ground like snow,
For underneath those petals fair
The fruit is hid, I know.
And hasten on, oh golden sun,
There's joy with every day
Our world would not be half as rich
If life could be all May."
(With our usual apologies to our friends in Australia and New Zealand, who are entering their winter)
We wish you joy in every day and in the richness of the world.
