Electric trams were a mainstay of British city transport up to the mid 1960s when they were scrapped in favour of the bus. This 1950s view is of an electric tram in Leeds at the Corn Exchange (thanks to Paul Haywood for this info). This tram might be picking up passengers on a foggy winter's day, perhaps for the journey home, a trip to the cinema, or a night out at the palais de dance.
From the Heritage Crafts' Silhouette series, this sepia toned picture shows a tram about to head off into the fog down a 1950s city street.
