It's June again which means summer for northerners and winter for southerners. Those of you in the tropics will just have to (as the song says) «put your Scotch and Rye down, and lie down!»
Whatever the season, you're welcome to our June '24 newsletter.
This month we're featuring brand new and re-released charts from Mirabilia (Nora Corbett), Bella Filipina, Cottage Garden Samplings and Blackbird Designs.
We've also got some new kits from Anchor (who are making a bit of a comeback after being in the doldrums for a while) and Lanarte.
Let's start with charts ...
The latest Mirabilia design the Sea Merchant`s Wife has arrived and her embellishment pack should be with us in a few weeks.
Nora Corbett produced a Christmas Tree kit every year between 2006 and 2011. These are now available as charts.
Bree Merryn has extended her series of cute animals and we have an updated catalogue. Please have a look at them and let us know if you like one. We can get them quickly and at our discounted price too!
Some Blackbird designs have now been reprinted. If you missed any the first time round, this might be your chance.
We had Bella Filipina's March design Cordelia awaiting the beads for her embellishment pack for some time. This design proved to be quite popular and stocked out quickly. We'll be restocking when 'Drin releases his next design (perhaps in mid-June).
Bella Filipina have raised their chart prices which means that, together with increases in shipping costs from the Philippines, we have had to increase the prices of the most recently delivered patterns.
The sixth in the Fabulous House series by Cottage Garden Samplings is the Tree House and they've also released a stylised peacock design for a pin cushion.
And flit to the kits ...
There are two new free embroidery kits by Anchor which use multiple stitches a sampler and a book. These are worked linen on linen. Sadly, although the embroidery is free, the kits are not. But they are good value and worth trying out if you want do something new!
There's a lovely new eastern lady in traditional dress by Lanarte. Her title is Phoenix Thoughts and she joins Lanarte's collection of beautiful ladies from different cultures.
We might wonder what this beautiful young woman is dreaming of. The title suggests it's a rebirth of some kind.
The myth had it that towards the end of its long life the phoenix built a nest, set it on fire and was consumed in the flames only to be immediately reborn. A myth that rather suited the rulers of Egypt.
Our title is from a poem about rebirth ...
«If any God should say,
"I will restore
The world her yesterday
Whole as before
My Judgment blasted it" - who would not lift
Heart, eye, and hand in passion o'er the gift?»from Rebirth by Rudyard Kipling, 1865-1936, English Writer and Nobel Laureate
The present sometimes seems like an inhospitable place so it's only natural that we should want to revert to earlier times when we all seemed ... freer and happier. Perhaps it will happen, perhaps not, but as we ordinary mortals can do nothing about it, it's as well to stick to what we know and make the best of what we have.
We hope you enjoy your June stitching whether it's summer or winter where you are.
