Hello and welcome to our July '25 newsletter, hot off the press for a searing summer.
Summer in Scotland has reverted to type wet and cold - while the rest of the UK basks in warm Sunshine. Bah!
In this month's issue we have new designs from Cottage Garden and Nora Corbett and new kits from AVA stitch so let's have a look.
Designs
Cottage Garden Samplings have a new year-long series and it's called A Year in the Woods II. Part one, The Wolf, is in stock and there will be another design next month.
The newest designs by Nora Corbett are the start of a series called Daughters of the Wind. The designs show Nora's signature elegant, stylised ladies holding their tame pet birds. There are two at the moment: Miss Starling and Miss White Owl. Our first delivery of these has been snapped up but we'll have more arriving soon.
Bothy Threads have published their first book featuring ten designs (shown in our catalogue) for greeting cards by Hannah Dale of Wrendale Designs. Fabric and floss packs are available to purchase for each design separately.
Kits
The Luca-S group which includes LetiStitch has added a new maker to its fold: AVA Stitch. AVA kits are manufactured in Spain and are made with quality materials: Zweigart Aida, DMC and Luca-S stranded cottons and John James needles.
As with other Luca-S offerings the designs are stylish, eye-catching and great value for money.
We have a few kits on order arriving in the next couple of weeks and you can see the current range in our online catalogue.
Postage
A huge 'thank you' to everyone who answered last month's call for comments on UK postage. Most of you said you'd be happy with second class postage but there were a few worrying stories about Royal Mail's 2nd class service (untracked and tracked), especially from those who live in more remote areas.
We've found that 1st class postage is very reliable - even if the promise of next day delivery isn't always honoured by Royal Mail.
Your comments show that the same is not true of 2nd class post.
So we're still thinking about this it's more difficult than we first thought!
We'll keep you in the picture in future editions of this newsletter.
And Finally
This month's title comes from a poem entitled The World We Makeby Alfred Grant Walton (1887 1970), US Pastor and Poet
Here's the first verse of this lovely, moral poem:
«We make the world in which we live
By what we gather and what we give,
By our daily deeds and the things we say,
By what we keep or we cast away.»
We hope your July is a time for making your own world beautiful. Happy stitching!
