Maia collections represent decorative contemporary art by internationally renowned artists like Erte (Romain de Tirtoff), Kawase Hasui, Karl Bang and Thomas Kinkade.
Romain de Tirtoff (1892-1990), better known as Erte, after the French pronunciation of his initials, was famous for his Art Deco cover and design illustrations in Harpers Bazaar. He also designed costumes and sets for the Folies Bergere.
Kawase Hasui (1883-1957), was one of the most talented and prolific of the Shin hanga artists. Shin hanga translates literally as 'new prints' and was an art movement for a new style of Japanese prints for a half century after around 1910.
Karl Bang is known as the «master of contemporary eclecticism» for the breadth of his training, influences and styles. His images of women depict the gentler instincts of humankind - nurture, gentility, truth and inner strength.
Thomas Kinkade is known as the «painter of light» and his images affirm the values of family and home, religious faith and the luminous beauty of nature.
