Profile - Classic EmbroideryClassic Embroidery was a family business which produced a large range of needlecraft kits up until 2015 when the owners retired. The range contained more than 400 designs and included cross-stitch, blackwork, hardanger, counted thread and embroidery.
Their kits were noted for 'extended' blackwork - kits that start with blackwork techniques and then add additional impact and interest. In particular, a collaboration with Di Kaye, who paints in an art deco style, was a fruitful source of material and a number of blackwork and cross stitch kits, under the title of 'Deco Elegance', were produced. These designs used metallic threads, beads, sequins and - in some cases Swarovski crystals - to add the 'wow' factor.
They also produced designs by Jill Cater-Nixon for a very successful range of blackwork kits.
Some Classic Embroidery kits are still available at various needlecraft retailers.
