A free embroidery stitch which can be used as an outline or a solid filling. Narrow Rope stitch

Come up at A and insert the needle at B, immediately below A. Form a loop and come up at C, directly below B and inside the loop, draw flat. Insert again at D, pushing the needle very close up into the waist formed by the twisted chain. Looping the thread under the needle come up at E on a straight line below A and draw flat. Continue along the line.

A counted thread stitch used in pulled thread embroidery. Net filling stitch

Diagonal rows of stitches over three fabric intersections are worked from bottom left to top right On the return squares are worked over two fabric intersections as illustrated. Also known as drawn faggot stitch.

A couching stitch similar to roumanian couching but with longer threads. New England couching

The long slanting threads are worked closely together. Also known as Deerfield stitch and self couching.

An evenweave linen fabric 160 threads to 10 cms, 40 count
A rustic cotton thread equivalent in thickness to two or three strands of stranded cotton. It is available in solid colours.

A counted thread stitch Norwich stitch

All stitches are worked on diagonals following the number sequence as illustrated. The last stitch passes under the last stitch that it crosses rather than over it as shown. The blocks can be worked in different sizes but must be over an odd number of threads. Sometimes know as waffle stitch.

A counted thread stitch Nun's work

The area to be covered is outlined in backstitch with one strand of floss. Bring the needle to the front of the work and lay a thread across the fabric. Work across the laid thread as illustrated and repeat across each row without going through the fabric.
Also known as hollie-point, holy point and point lace.
