That beautiful season the Summer!
Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light;
and the landscape
Lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood.
We missed our June newsletter as we were on holiday (vacation) and as we'll be away again for a few days at the end of this month, we thought we'd slot in a newsletter this weekend. Hope you find it it enjoyable and informative!
Vervaco's Summer Collection is now available and we have chosen to start with a romantic design in the ever popular sepia, a cat sleeping on a bookcase and three cushion front kits, two bright in blue and yellow of sunflowers and a cute owl for the nursery.
Thea Gouverneur also has a new collection of cushions, six lovely flowers to choose from and - for children - three characters from Sesame Street: Bert, Ernie and Elmo. A cushion back with zip already inserted is available to match all her cushions.
Another addition to her religious collection, the latest Thea Gouverneur design is of a golden Buddha statue.
Heritage Crafts have discontinued part of their range of kits and charts including the meercat series, some Cats Rule and most of Tiddles. The list is quite long and we have ordered extras of some of the most popular kits but when those are gone, we won't be able to restock. So don't delay ordering any you've been meaning to stitch.
We are delighted to introduce to our range another UK company who produce sampler kits which are a mixture of traditional and unusual. Riverdrift Studio is a family run firm located in Cornwall where designer Amanda Stevenson produces large and small samplers and greetings cards.
Bothy Threads are still coming up with fantastic new designs in their trademark cartoon style even though they are relocating next month from Suffolk to Cumbria. The latest three designs are hard to resist with colourful beach huts, exotic birds and lazy dogs - possibly even lazier than their cat counterparts.
Permin's historical Dutch Beauty Sampler is now available as a chart pack and has proved so popular in this format that we already have had to re-order.
We've also had to re-order Miribilia Designs' latest lady, Persephone of Greek legend who is as lovely and stylish as all the other Nora Corbett ladies.
Permin's Christmas 2013 Collection is already available! Well, we do need time to stitch them while sitting on our deckchairs in the sunshine. We have two tree skirts on jute, lots of advent calendars, two new wine bottle apron designs and a set of colourful table mats of baubles on natural linen. Chill out ...
Imaginating's Let's series by Ursula Michael are very popular and the newest - Let's Party, a cocktail glass made from party words - should prove a hit as well.
A customer was recently looking for grey Aida to stitch a night scene. We were lucky to find a fat quarter but since coloured fabric becomes more and more difficult to find we've ordered 30 cm Aida bands in several other shades. These should be large enough for smaller projects and can be purchased in 50 cms and 1 metre lengths. There's the added advantage that two sides are already finished. Narrower bands are ideal for greeting cards.
Well, that's it for July. We're off out to sip cold drinks on the patio, with our noses in a good book soaking up the sun. (Dream on!) Wherever you are we hope you enjoy your summer (or winter) as much as we're enjoying ours.
