Glass beads are useful in a variety of projects such as embellishing needlecraft, sewing on fabric, clothes and accessories, as well as for jewellery.
They are available in a wide range of sizes, colours and finishes and vary in the ways they are created.
Glass beads are still created mainly by a traditional technique known as lampworking in which coloured glass rods are heated and wrapped around a mandrel.
They can be made in a single colour or overlaid in different colours to create interesting surface textures and shapes.
Crystals are faceted - they have fine cuts on their surfaces to improve their light reflecting properties.
They lend an eye-catching sparkle to your work.
