The most popular type is the seat stand where the user sits on a plate attached to the stand to hold it steady while stitching. This type of stand is used for small to medium sized projects.
Floor stands are typically used for larger projects where it would be inconvenient to have the work piece close up all the time.
Table or lap stands sit on top of a table or your lap and are generally intended for smaller projects.
